Hello!
My name is Sarah Nason. I am an Alberta-based science communicator, illustrator, and ecologist.
I started Wapiti Studios because I believe communicators have an important role in bridging the gap between scientists and society. I am also passionate about “off the shelf” science: getting research out of the ivory tower and into the real world where it can be applied for the greater benefit of all people. I see science as only one of many pathways to understanding nature, and I love working at the interface of western and Indigenous knowledge systems to see a bigger picture.
Through my art and writing I strive to make the natural sciences exciting, accessible, and impactful.
Illustrations bring science to life.
Humans naturally engage with visual information. I use illustrations, figures and infographics to help people connect with and understand scientific findings!
Great writing helps messages land.
Clear, concise writing can be the key to translating scientific research into real world action, whether it’s in policy or on-the-ground ecosystem management. I develop written products to help bridge these worlds, often working with collaborators and integrating research and visual components into the final products to ensure goals are met.
